Rider Owned Brands v Corporate Owned Brands
In this article we are covering rider v corporate owned scooter brands as we distribute one of the better known rider owned brands Ethic DTC.
Rider owned brands are leading the way in taking scooter technology to the next level.
They may not have the resources of corporate owned brands but rider owned brands are why scooters and parts continue to evolve, almost dragging the corporate owned brands to follow them.
Ethic DTC continue to push out new designs for their decks, bars, wheels and forks every few years and they're always looking at new ways to improve their products for their customers. This is why Ethic are leading the way and are the largest parts supplier within the industry.
Most corporate brands tend to focus just on complete scooters and rarely change their decks or bars. There is also a lack of "small parts" from corporate owned brands to repair breakages on their complete scooters, like axles and spacers.
Which is why when choosing a complete scooter to buy you should look to see if all the parts on the scooter can be purchased separately for when those parts do break.
Being the Ethic DTC distributor we feel strongly about supporting all rider owned brands. Below are some of the main rider and corporate owned brands, also a video of Kevin Demay the founder of Ethic and their designer/ engineer talking about the Ethic brand in the early days when they departed ways with District 12 years ago.
